vacation, all i ever wanted

Do I look really tan? It could be because I'm on vacation (wahoo)!

I was so excited to get down here I totally forgot to let y'all in on my plans. So this is me saying, I'm off to enjoy some sand and sea air. Ahhh, I feel better already.

Be sure to follow the fun on Instagram, as I've got some big thrifting plans while I'm down here!

Cheers!

best of pinterest - living and dining rooms

So going through my living room and dining room Pinterest boards made me realize that there is no way I could choose just one single style for either room. They are just too full of possibilities.

For the dining room we've got to have a big round table and super killer chairs. Duh.

I like the idea of books in the dining room. More of a library where they allow food, sort of.

OK, this one isn't a round table, but its good.

The living room, like the rest of the house will have tall ceilings, lots of beautiful moldings and big huge windows.

And many french doors out to the huge porch.

CoCo is really good at cleaning windows.

And he makes a mean cocktail.

I don't think I even scratched the surface really. There is no way I could narrow it down. That's it, I'm just going to have to have several living rooms and dining rooms.

What about you? Do you have a style you dream about but don't have in your own home? Any feature you would add to a space if the sky was the limit? Want CoCo to make you a G&T for the afternoon?

best of pinterest - entry hall

Let's move inside my Pinterest dream house to the foyer, shall we? Foyers are one of my very favorite rooms, the room that says 'here's what you have to look forward to in this joint.' While I'm doing the most I can with the shoebox quaint foyer I have, I'm going big in chez Pinterest.

Fantastic wallpaper, check. I've got to have some 'bam' to go with my large and in charge front door right? Right.

A place to sit down and put on shoes, or throw my fabulous Gucci bags (this is a dream after all).

A console for CoCo to put the mail down when he comes in from finishing his yard work.

And big beautiful stairs.

 With a great railing.

Maybe curvy

or maybe straight. But either way they are going to be fabulous.

What would your dream foyer look like? Are you warm and cozy or more minimalist? Anyone else get giddy when they see a good foyer? Just me?

best of pinterest - curb appeal

Hey sunshine! Did you have a good weekend? Spend anytime on Pinterest? I did (follow me here) and I actually had an occasion to search for something on one of my boards. It got me thinking - I pin like a mad woman, but how often do I ever really go back and look thru what I've pinned?

Not often enough is the answer. Why am I pinning all of these wonderful images if not to use them for inspiration/daydreaming.

So I've decided I'm going to use Pinterest to create my dream house and today I'm starting with the outside.

Something a bit farmhouse like is striking my fancy.

Or maybe cedar shake. Either way, I want lots of windows and a nice big front porch.

Of course this frankenstein house is on a grand lot with a long winding path,

which takes you to a front door with some major presence

and window boxes everywhere.

There is a courtyard in the back with a lovely pool

surrounded by perfectly manicured gardens that my tan house boy CoCo maintains.

Beyond will be an herb garden that would make Ina proud

and more hydrangeas that I can count.

There also needs to be a gate somewhere

And a carriage house/garage, for CoCo's apartment of course.

What about you? What would your Pinterest dream house look like?

It is a beautiful day outside. I've got the windows open and I plan to have some good summer fun outside with the girls today.

So enjoy these summer pictures and get outside for some fresh air!

as the mantel turns

Like sands through the hourglass, so is the mantel in my living room. The sucker is a revolving door of indecision. As my dear friend Linda says, I'm mantelly challenged. In fact, I've even got a board on Pinterest just for mantels - it is an obsession.

The bug hit again not too long ago and I changed it up after seeing what Bryn did with a client's mantel. I've got a collection of milk glass, why not put it to use.

This is probably the happiest I've been with the mantel in a while. Says the girl that will probably change the whole thing around next month.

I cannot begin to even count how many times I've changed this mantel around. This is the fourth mirror in 6 1/2 years, if that tells you anything. Psycho much?

I even found a few pictures of the evolution.

Thanks CNN Living for sharing my most recent mantel this week. Check it out here.

Is there a spot in your house that you change even more frequently than others? Do you have a mantel that you feel is never quite right? Want to place bets on how long before I change it all around again?
