winterizing the kitchen

I was baking cookies the other day and as I waited for the timer to ding I stared at this.

I'm over it.

Not the shelves, but the white. Ever since I added my lovely new rug by the sink, I've been thinking the other side of the kitchen needed some blue as well.

This is where all of those purchases of blue and white come in handy. Proof to the hubs that you can never have too much blue and white. 10 minutes later...

Voila. Much better and a bit cozier for winter. We'll consider this my 'winter kitchen'. If you can't have a winter home, you can at least have a winter kitchen.

And if I decide to change it again in the Spring, I know it will be quick and easy.

Have you made any quick changes around the house? Have a collection that moves from place to place? Have a winter home you'd like to share with me?

  1. This looks great :) I love having a space that you can mix up with the seasons. I'm switching out some of my plates and bowls too.

  2. You're adorable. I love this! My mom has more blue and white china and jars than anyone I know and when they built an addition onto their house years ago the entire family room was painted blue willow blue to allow for her collections to be on display all the time. I love it for year round my dear!

  6. That looks fantastic - I love the blue and white. I don't usually think of it as 'winter-y' but the darker blue collection really warms up that space. Bet it looks great with that funky rug you made.

  17. I love your collection! I do move things a lot between kitchen and Dining room, I don't "winterize" my home though, since I'm a self-confessed Christmas-aholic, I usually just decorate the house after halloween with that! Check out my blog next week, hopefully I could start posting my Xmas decors(if my MAC gets fixed :-() .
