The upholstery bug bit me again and I blame Craigslist. I found these chairs for an incredible steal ($25 for BOTH) and I couldn't pass them up. The lady was as nice as could be. They were her mother's chairs and have sat in her garage for months. They "just weren't my style" she told me. Well, they are my style lady. Me and your 95 year old mother.
These will be easy peasy compared to the couch and I'm wanting some fun fabric this time.
AND, I'm going to try the cushions myself as I also scored a sewing machine on Saturday at a garage sale. Never been opened, brand new. Raise the roof to that people! Keep in mind I don't have the first clue how to sew, but I'll worry about that small technicality later.
The bulk of the weekend however was working on the deck. And aside from a few flower pots we're done. My house's reverse mullet has officially been cut. Stay tuned for the reveal.
How was your weekend? Anything exciting to report? Anyone know of any wonderful fabric sales going on?
Oh those chairs are going to be awesome when you get through with them! One person's lack of vision is your gain!! haha. Poor lady will be hating herself for selling them if she ever sees the "after" pics of them on your blog!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome that you got a sewing machine for cheap!! You'll totally pick up sewing. I'd only done it once when I got my machine and while I'm far from amazing, I can at least complete the easy sewing projects like pillow covers and stuff. You'll love having a sewing machine; I felt like a whole new world of potential projects was opened up for me once I got mine!
I freakin' love those chairs. Get out the staple gun!!
ReplyDeleteom, I need those chairs.
ReplyDeleteWoot woot! Love the curvy details too.
ReplyDeleteUnbelievably awesome!
ReplyDeleteNice chairs! Have fun sewing! I need to break out my machine and learn how to use it. I wish I had those chairs to give me the push I need though... they'd be perfect!
ReplyDeleteI can wait to see these babies completed. I'm sure they will look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteSwooooooooning over here! They are as perfect as can be! I love their beautiful shape and I have reupholstered them in my head in at least 3 different fabrics while I have been sitting here!
ReplyDeleteOoooh my god!! This is what I've been looking for for my living room - a beautiful hot mess of a bargain with extra dollops of delicious potential. Oh yes.
ReplyDeleteTotally J to the Ealous. You are going to make those babies sing, I just know it!

Great deal on those gorgeous chairs! And a brand new sewing machine at a garage sale?? Your lucky week! I usually spot great sales on Waverly fabrics at Jo Ann's. Good luck! I'm sure you'll do great at sewing. Then when you learn, you can teach me! ha. :)
ReplyDeletethose chairs are fantastic - and I am green with envy over your sewing machine find. I have been wanting one for a while! Can't wait to see the chairs!
ReplyDeleteOh fantastic. I was looking at a pair similar. You will do a great job on these two beauties. I had no idea that you did not sew. You can do everything else...so I think sewing should go well for you.
ReplyDeleteOh lordy, I have basically the same style chair in my bedroom that has bee literally crying tears for some reupholstering...I've been too scared!! I've been debating breaking out the caning to make it look more modern...which way are you going??
ReplyDeleteAlright, not to be a naysayer, but I guess I'm old enough to remember back to nineteen seventy-ugly when those chairs were here, there, and uglywhere. I'll try to keep an open mind, but you are gonna have to pull off a miracle to make me love them.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great score on these beauties! I can't wait to see what fabric you are going to upholster those beauties in!

Jealous! Love the curves on them!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see how they turn out.
ReplyDeleteOff to Craigslist I go!
I always love to see what people do with these chairs. I have a pair that I decided to redo but I had to replace the caning so I haven't gotten further than taking it off. Can't wait to see what you decide. :)
ReplyDeleteOur chairs are almost twins! Looking forward to seeing yours!
