Today is a fun 'this is your life' kind of day. My friend Linda, Calling it Home fame and creator of the One Room Challenge, is having a party today. Everyone and anyone who has participated in the One Room Challenge over the years will be giving updates on their rooms.
Projects that were unfinished, changes that were made, or just the general state of the room today will all be shared.
As for me, not much has changed in the girls' room by way of additions or changes.
Full disclosure it looks like this most of the time. True life. (my mom is horrified right now).
Herbie did get some new bright orange poppies which he is very happy about.
And I did get a pom pom garland on clearance after Christmas that I'll use as a tie back for the corner window. Current version styled by my three-year-old assistant.
So the girls still love the room, I still love the room. The room is well loved.
The family room is pretty much the same story.
All the major players are still in place, it just has a more...lived in patina now. I won't blind you with the general state of toy tornado that that room seems to be in. Even I have my sharing limits. :)
So that's my ORC update. All is pretty quite on the western front. Be sure to go over to Linda's to see what everyone else's rooms are up to now. I can't wait to check them out!
And don't forget to sign up for my Wash Away Winter giveaway! You could be smelling sweet in no time.
that's about what emmy's room looks like most of the time, too. sigh.
ReplyDeleteLove both of those rooms...even in their real life state!
ReplyDeleteYour little girls' room with the Springtime Bloom ceiling still has my heart. So adorable ESPECIALLY with the lived in patina! Just wait 'til those munchkins are 13. You will never see that floor again with all the outfit changes.
ReplyDeleteI really love your girls' room. The mix is perfection.
ReplyDeleteMy ORC room looks pristine when my son is not home to ransack it but the rest of the house...not so much.
What fun, happy rooms! I love that pom-pom tie back! Super clever and super darling!
ReplyDeleteThanks for showing your real life photo of your girls room. I don't feel so alone now. :)
ReplyDeleteThe Pom Pom and flowers are very cute additions.
All our homes I'm sure looks like that at some point! At least you know your girls REALLY USE and LOVE their room! LOL!
ReplyDeletehahaha love the full disclosure and the pom pom tie backs. That's the state of my kiddos rooms too, but it would be SO MUCH WORSE if they shared! Every once in a while the mommy cleaning tornado blows though, but other than that unmade beds and toys on the floor is the norm.
ReplyDeleteGood for you for keepin' it real! I kid you not, your playroom is still one of my absolute fave rooms to come out of blog land. It is the perfect, bright, colorful place to bringing out every single toy in the house to play with! Maybe that's why your girls do it!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing this room loved and lived in!!! And the pom poms ... wouldn't change a thing!! xo
ReplyDeleteOMG that pom pom garland…I want it
ReplyDeleteI couldn't tell if that was your girls' room or my daughter's room. Love the pom pom garland. I didn't even know that existed.
ReplyDeleteThat pom pom garland is maybe the cutest thing ever!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the dose of reality in the kids' room. Mila's room is a disaster at the moment (and every moment) except when I'm going to photograph it. It looks like that for 15 minutes, then boom. Instant mess again.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember your family room at all - I need to catch up on that one. And oh I can so relate to the girls room :) My little one isn't a mess yet but my oldest has books everywhere. I know it won't be long until it's clothes and accessories everywhere.
ReplyDeleteThat girls room is so so sweet! It makes me feel better that your kids room looks like a tornado hit it -- I won't dare share my sons' rooms! :)
ReplyDeleteBoth look great still! Wondering what you have up your sleeve for the next round?!
ReplyDeletestill love your girls' room. The poppies and pom poms are a nice addition :)
ReplyDeleteSince I didn't see the first makeovers, these are fun for me to look at. I love the bright touches you have--the girl's pompoms and deer head vase are just lovely and love your light and bright family room!

I love your girls room and it's natural 'glow'- there is alot of fun going on in there! That is a wonderful thing. Your family room looks great, too. Enjoy! xo Nancy
ReplyDeleteYou have to let them have a room to live in. My maid used to ask my daughter what she was looking for, lol. No one will ever know.
ReplyDeleteThe rooms look great, which is no surprise!

Love both of those rooms! Glad you kept it real because my son's room look 100x worse :).
ReplyDeleteYou are so funny- I love that you show real life! That's what my girl's rooms look like most of the time too! I do love this room you created for them and your basement! What color did you paint the ceiling? And did you use a flat paint? I'm curious since I think I'm ready to paint a ceiling for one of our girl's rooms too.
ReplyDeleteI always love when Moms show how the room really looks:) Cause half the time all of my sofa pillows are on the floor.....not enough room for the dog, me AND the pillows you know?
ReplyDeleteYou made me LOL with the mom comment. I do the same thing too. I love the poppies. I think their room is so special. xoxo
ReplyDeleteYour girls' room is adorable- so happy and bright! And the family room looks so cozy...perfect for movie night!
ReplyDeleteBoth rooms look great. Love the pom pom garland. I give you props for keeping in real. Fun room makes for a happy family.
ReplyDeleteThe girls' room still looks great, even in its messy (normal) state. -Caitlin
ReplyDeleteThe real state of the girl's room is so cute! Love the bright pink, it is indeed a happy color.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Hope to see you on my blog:)
What is it with the drawers hanging out?!? I'm positive at least 3 of the 9 drawers on my daughter's dresser are wide open right now. Your real life looks just like ours! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat rooms! I love the real life photos!! So true... but such is life and memories are made in lived in spaces!
ReplyDeleteOMg so funny...this is my life too! My mom is almost obsessive compulsive when it comes to neatness...so I loved that your mom is the same way. The rooms are so beautiful a little mess is not an issue.
ReplyDeleteHahaha! Oh I love the real life pic!! The addition of the pom pom garland looks fab ;) xxx
ReplyDeleteLove the pompom garland...Great idea as tiebacks!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm still loving how bright and colorful you were able to make your basement family room...it gives me hope for my dingy creepy one... :)
That pom pom garland is awesome!!! Love the basement space too!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Krista
