the perfect navy paint

I'm on the hunt. (imagine me in fabulous riding boots and a wonderful tweed jacket with my beagle by my side)

I've got a piece of furniture begging for a paint job. It's true. It told me it wanted to be painted. In a heavy Scottish accent oddly enough. So it's very possible I misunderstood, but I'm certain he said he wanted to be navy.

Happy to oblige Scottish furniture, but the problem is there are no fewer than 10,000 different paint colors claiming to be navy. You may remember I've had navy paint problems in the past, so I'm still rather nervous about making another navy pick.

There is after all a fine line between "that's a really dark royal blue" and "is that black...or blue". I'm going for "hot damn that is one fine piece of navy furniture!".

Something like this...

  2. Natty posted that she used BM "Old Navy". I have too many half full, quarts of paint in my garage to answer that question. For me, it feels like the only way to get the right color is to paint it once with the wrong color. That formula always works for me.

  3. Sorry to say I don't have a good navy - but I can't wait to see what you come up with! I love navy along with this years color - emerald green.

  10. My dear Elizabeth, I am going to go to Pinterest promptly after publishing this comment and following you there. I in-turn would thus soulfully appreciate you doing likewise.

For some stupid and silly reason I was speaking as a Fox Hunter would just now, I think, I was anyway.

I haven't ever painted in Navy. Personally I love the bottom photo that is shiny dark blue. That's my vote. Like the Guess jeans I posted last Friday, those suckers are dark. They look black but they are very dark blue. They are so dark that when I wear them my finger tips get dark like ink on them, Ya!

  11. I know nothing of navy blue unfortunately but man, I am falling in love with it daily. That's totally not helping, I realise, but I figured I'd mention it anyway. Actually, even if I had painted something perfect navy, I'm not sure that the exact paint colour would be available in the US. So, I'm going to try to make sure my response isn't just completely and utterly redundant by saying that I loved the navy blue that Emily Henderson (another shout out for her) used in her office: http://www.stylebyemilyhenderson.com/blog/my-new-office.html Yum yum.

Also, did you see her recent office makeover? For Realz. It's amazeballs. (no I don't talk like that in real life but STILL.)

Ok, I'll shuddup now. Peace out baby and good luck xxx

  19. December Eve - Behr. Searched high and low. Very happy with the results. It's rich and not too blue and looks great in all light.
