shameless plug friday

I mentioned on my 2013 goal list that I'm going to work on opening up a bit more about other parts of my life. Probably not to the lady next to me in line at the grocery store, or my dentist, but certainly to my uber supportive and loyal readers. (tear)

This I'm sure sounds easy to a lot of you but for me it will certainly be a challenge. I don't share a lot of things about myself readily. When I'm with my friends, I would much rather talk about them. In work I'm never good at patting myself on the back or tooting my own horn. It's not really a shy issue, as those who know me will testify - I'm so not shy. It's more of a "I'm sure (insert person's name here) doesn't care about (insert accomplishment here). I don't want to bother them with that boring stuff." So  that's probably a self-esteem issue? I don't know, there is probably a Lifetime Television movie that can work me thru it.

I've already been working on it for the past year. This blog was a huge step towards teaching myself that it is OK to tell others "Hey I did (insert accomplishment here) and I'm pretty proud of it."

Next step is to push myself a little to share more than just my own projects, but the projects that I do for others. And who knows, maybe even the occasional 'these crazy kids' story. No worries though, design is still my core.

I'm going to start small today with this little shocker. Did you know that you can 'like' little black door on Facebook? It's true. I'm on the cutting edge people. This Facebook thing is going places. And, I'm also on Twitter. I just blew your mind, I know. I'm on Instagram too, but that's a long story that shows nothing but my Instagram ignorance.

So make my Friday, and have some fun. Go on over to Facebook, and Twitter and 'like' me. Shameless plug indeed. If you do, I promise to never post another inspirational quote. Ever.

Happy Weekend!

  1. Hahaha, I think I just liked you twice? Share what you want when you are ready. I promise it is not bragging to let others know things.

  2. done and done! It is SO HARD to share about ourselves, good things or stressful things. Good luck with it my sweets, we all want to be here for you!

  3. Good for you! I have the same problem, it took me a year to tell my closest friends I have a blog...I still don't really pimp myself when it comes to decorating...I guess I'm afraid of others judgement so I don't say anything. I already love ya sister but I'm going to check out your Facebook & Twitter!! Don't be afraid to toot that horn!

  4. Just liked you on FB. You should be proud and it's not shameless at all! You are the sweetest, creative and funniest blogger I know!

  5. LIKED! :) Just like lemondropdreams, I'm taking forever to tell my friends about my blog. I've told my mom and my in-laws (but they don't know the URL to go looking for it). I have a degree in Travel and Event Planning, but I'm so scared to plan an event because I'm afraid the person won't like it! Even though I planned and executed the plans for my wedding by myself and everyone loved it and still talks about it!!

  6. I just liked you on fb and followed you on twitter. There is no shame in sharing your accomplishments with those of us who want to know! I can totally relate to where you are coming from and suffer form the same!
I have a twitter account and don't even know how to use it!!!!

  7. I love this post! I feel the same way- sometimes I'd much rather talk about everyone else in the room than talk about myself. Whenever someone says how are you, I answer quickly and move to them. My blog was really hard for me at first, but it gets easier. I think you are doing a FAB job aready and deserve an award. So here is my award to you... (pretend I'm handing you one)
    Have a great weekend!

  8. Elizabeth! You! You shameless fool! LOL I will follow on Pinterest. FB is nuts. They won't cooperate with me on making a simple sequins page. So I'm on bloglovin' and pinterest now and want to do instagram, too. You are a continual crack up. and ...I love it!!!

  9. Good Saturday morning Elizabeth! I think you read my post "Picture Perfect Perfection" about a month ago, right? One of the best posts to date... for me... It seems we have much in common after reading what you've written here! Know that you are not alone on this. I read your Little Black Door because I love the work you do and other things you share. I want to know more, so (since this is a one woman machine) you gotta tell... who else will, right? Major thumbs up on FB here! Hope you have a great weekend! xx-Whitley

  10. I already like you on fb and twitter girlfriend! I'm ginna make sure pinterest is taken care of too... Good for you for taking a step. Next I wanna see a client project photo!!!!!

  11. I pretty much stalk you everywhere (you're out of milk by the way) but hadn't for some unknown reason followed you on Facebook. Gloat all you want my dear but asking people to follow you on other Social Media areas are not shameless plugs, it's for people like me who just can't get enough of your lovely. Whatever you're selling, I'm buying. Enjoy your weekend! xxx

  12. Yes I hear you. I first got the idea to start blogging last April. I worked on it for about 5 months and then launched it in September. It really has come along way and the sky is the limit!!

  13. I know what you mean about not wanting to get really personal- I always worry that people won't care, or that if I tell people a goal I have, they'll be secretly snickering if I don't end up reaching it. Having a blog has helped me with that a little, but I still am very guarded about some things! I love your goal to open up more. I'd totally rush over to follow you on twitter and like you on fb but I already do! :) At least, I think I already like you on fb....I'll go check and make sure!

  14. I am now following your on Twitter and Facebook! I love your fabulous design sense and it's a shame not to share it with everyone, just saying.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend! Enjoy your day!
