It is about that time in the winter where I start to really hate our weatherman. They are predicating another storm this afternoon and when I see that snow start to fall again I very well may loose my mind. This is also about the time in the winter when I start to say to myself, "Why do I live here?!"
So I'm going to ask a question that always causes a debate. And don't let my obvious preference sway you in any way.
Are you a beach person?
Or are you a mountains person?
If you had your way, which would you prefer year around? Do you need seasons? Do you like being snowed in? Do you like having sand in your house? (Or whatever the equivalent would be to being snowed in)
I love seasons but I prefer my "winters" to only have 1-2 days of snow. And by "snow" I mean a North Carolina snow :) Beach all the way baby!!
ReplyDeletei am a mountain girl! :) but not necessarily below 30 degrees mountain girl... but i like my days cooler, perfect for hiking and taking in the gorgeous trees and rivers and mountains!
ReplyDeleteWithout a doubt -I am a beach person!
ReplyDelete-Shelley
Get me the eff out of here!! Sand for sure!!
ReplyDeleteI do not need a season! I need flip flops and a maxi dress all year long! Beach!
ReplyDeleteI love having seasons and would miss them too much if I lived at the beach year round. I do get tired of winter, for sure, but I love it in the beginning to snuggle up in front of a fire with hot cocoa and my family. That's not to say I wouldn't mind living on the beach a couple of months out of the year. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a mountain girl, but don't confuse that with a camping girl!! I love living in Colorado and look forward to four distinct seasons!
ReplyDeleteIt's about damn time we get ours! We've had very insulting snowfall amounts this year so I'm giddy with this storm...of course after tomorrow I'll be cursing mother nature! Stay safe and warm!!
ReplyDeleteSand, sand, sand!!! I hate cold and snow. I actually need to move further south.
ReplyDeleteLiving in California...I am fortunate to have easy access to both! #spoiled But if I had to choose...you will find me at the beach...windows open...sea breezes...and sandy toes. Love it!
ReplyDeleteI grew up in NY, hubby in CA-and we have had our shares of seasons, but we are beach people without a doubt. We're in San Diego, where housing costs are beyond stupid, but we are not going to live anywhere that gets anything that comes close to winter again ( we've done stints in OR and TX, NY ). Seasons are not necessary for a happy life to us-the ocean is!
ReplyDeleteI'm divided - I love the green or England, Oregon and washington, the warm soft sweetness of Cabo San Lucas in Mexico and Hawaii, the magnificent beauty of the mountains In Colorado.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely not a desert person, or a constant snow-and-ice person though, so can i visit the other places every once in a while and enjoy it all?
I'm right there with you! We're expecting yet ANOTHER winter storm, and I'm ready to lose my mind!! The kids haven't had a normal school week since before Christmas, and I feel like a caged animal anymore when we get big snowstorms. While I love having all of the seasons, I wish winter was MUCH shorter! I'm thinking the Carolinas are where it's at! However, we have three kids here in school, so I think we're staying put for the time being. Must plan more winter vacations! I think snowbirds have the right idea!
ReplyDeleteI am NOT a beach person but, right about now, I'd move to a warm weather destination in a nano-second. SO OVER this winter!!!
ReplyDeleteI am a beach person ... but I do love the change of seasons. I just wish winter lasted over the holidays and then got back to warmer weather!! I'm so fickle! xo
ReplyDeleteBEACH - we have snow coming tonight too...3-5 inches more before morning tomorrow...if someone said I could move to the beach tomorrow - I would be there - no hesitations!
ReplyDeleteCheryl @ The Creative Me and My McG
ugh .. this has been the worst winter .. i miss the beach! Here it's either snowing, raining or reeeeally cold (and always gray!)
ReplyDeleteAn excellent questions Elizabeth... I'm gonna say a mountains person with a beach holiday here and there... I'm with you - at this point I'm done with winter. We are sitting at -30 Celsius, with the windchill, right now. HATE this HATE IT!
ReplyDeleteKeya
I'm at a loss because I really don't like temperature extremes in any direction. Here in Tennessee we usually get one little snow each year - 2" or less and that's plenty. I love the beach but don't think I want to live there . Hard to please much?
ReplyDeleteSand!! Hubby and I want to move to Maui! StL has had enough snow this year, I am so over it. And if we have one more snow day...I will lose my mind. The End.
ReplyDeleteLike Carlton from the RHOBH always says...."REALLY?" You know I am a beach girl and am counting the hours until. See you and Vandy Beach.
ReplyDeleteSand sand sand!!! I am such a beach person and every time it gets really cold here I always ask myself (and my husband!) why we haven't moved somewhere warmer yet!
ReplyDeleteI'm a born and bred Southern Californian, but having lived on the east coast for 10 yrs now I definitely feel like I need seasons. Preferably seasons that aren't extreme in either direction. I'm going with mountains on this one.
ReplyDeleteright now i'm anything that is not snow covered!! beautiful pics!
ReplyDeleteHaha, since you mentioned loosing your mind over more snow…I just wrote on my blog today how much a a freak I am because I enjoy the snow so much. Love the local skiing. That said if I'd pay for a vacation right now I'd go warm though. I'm both a mountain girl and a beach girl ;)
ReplyDeleteBEACH! Definitely and forever will be. Retiring there for sure. Just can't do it now, I might end up lazy-ing up all my days away!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a beach house year round! But if I could, of course, I'd have a beach house AND a mountain cottage :)
ReplyDeleteGirl, I hear you. Luckily I have a beast of a vehicle so I'm not snowed in, but the city looks fugly, plain and simple.
ReplyDeleteUgh, it's been snowing ALL DAY. So needless to say, I vote SAND. I was in San Diego two weekends ago and it really made me question my loyalty to New England.
ReplyDeleteI 'm Jamaican so definitely a beach person! I am so ready for warm temps!
ReplyDeletebeach for sure!! The Caribbean is my home! I adore it. I do love mountain getaways too...I'm flexible.
ReplyDeleteI'm in Lawrence, Kansas where we just got over 12 inches of snow in one day—on top of the 3" of the dreaded "wintry mix" several days before. This is our first big snow of the year. And as much as I don't love snow, I hate the beach. I'd like 70 degree days and 35 degree nights please. I'm sure you can arrange it.
ReplyDeleteEither one. Depends on my mood. Haha!
ReplyDeleteI'm most definitely a sun-shining, beach person. Why I'm living in England where it does nothing but rain (although it IS pretty and considering how hard hit you guys have been across the pond, I suppose I should be grateful), is something I question myself sometimes! lol xx
ReplyDeleteMountains for me. And I must have seasons. A true Kansas girl who enjoys the ever-changing nature of our Midwest weather. I've enjoyed our recent massive snowfall but will also be ready for spring to appear. I LOVE fall colors and the return of jeans and sweater weather, but give me another month and I will be itching to not wear socks anymore.
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine expands on this question, which I love. Mountains or beach? Cat or dog? Chocolate or vanilla?
I am Mountains, Dog, Chocolate.
Ha ha! I'm laughing at Home Before Dark. I love 90 degree days and 70 degree nights! BEACH, all the way, from this Carolina Girl.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Kimberly Lemmon. I want to have it both ways : )
ReplyDeleteI'm totally a snow/winter girl... what on earth am I doing living in South Florida?!?!
ReplyDeleteXOXO,
The Glam Pad
I love having seasons, but I wouldn't mind if spring and fall were longer and summer and winter were a little shorter :)
ReplyDeleteIll take sand and sun right now please. I'm over being cold! Have a nice weekend, xo Nancy
