why finish one project when you can start another

The week has begun and I'm sure I'm not the only one who could use another day. I think its time to start mandatory three day weekends in the summer. Who's with me?

I hope all that celebrated had a wonderful Father's Day. We had a great afternoon with the hubs and my dad doing what they love - watching the US Open. And there was a Father's Day miracle when I was finally able to snag some peonies from Trader Joes. I had thought they were an urban myth but I ran in yesterday and there they were in all their white and pink glory. I'm sure everyone in the produce section thought I was crazy as I squealed when I saw them.

Another miracle is that progress has been made on the office. I'll share more with you later this week, but needless to say when the pool is calling your name, it is hard to spend time in the basement.

While I was hard at work, I ran to grab something from the hall closet. And I don't know if it's all the pool water in my ears or what but I could not take that black hole any longer. It is one of my goals for the year to get this closet in order so no better time to start than while you are in the middle of another project, right?!

Luckily the paint was drying in the office so I had time to kill. Off to Home Depot for color ideas and I was off to the races. More to come once everything dries.

So how was your weekend? Finish any projects? Start any new ones? Did you see Zach Johnson's hole in one?!

  1. ha ha! i literally opened my hall closet yesterday and was like- ok, this summer this will get done.... of course i didn't make any progress from there. we have a little excitement going on over there that i couldn't start anything yesterday- instead i have been cleaning and praying no one opens closets.

  2. I'm with you on both issues - closets in major need of a clean-out and starting a new project before finishing the ones you've got going. Can't wait to see your office all painted up!

  4. I don't think I know how to work on just one thing at a time. I blame it on women being master multi-taskers :D

  5. Of course as soon as I proclaimed my kids' bathroom "my summer project" I decided that our mudroom has to change! That's what makes us special :) Do I feel a little ombre action coming on???

  10. I was so excited when I found peonies at Trader Joe's too! And my closets (and attic) could use some major attention right now! I don't even know where to begin!

  13. how fun to have several projects going on at once! Dying to know more about your office. I still have not been to a trader Joe's...I know seems silly right? They just opened one nearby...I just have to go.

  14. I laughed out loud at your post title. Exactly. This was going to be the year of organization. And then just as suddenly it wasn't. I'll probably end up starting and not finishing a few more things whilst my piles of crap get taller and taller.

  17. Finish a project before starting a new one...that's an interesting concept, not sure I could focus on one thing that long! :) Your peonies are gorgeous, so glad TJs came through for you!

  18. Hmmm...I have this same problem! I'm waiting anxiously for the peonies in our front garden to bloom (white and pink). I guess that shows how much colder it is here!!

  19. I actually finished a project this past weekend which was a miracle! You're so good at it, I'm sure you can multitask and actually finish. I had no idea TJs sold peonies! I usually just steal them from my mom's yard though, why buy what you can pilfer. ;)

  20. This has been my motto for years. The only way to finish a project is either ORC, or sell your home. Missed the hole in one.
