it is not 1999

This weekend I partied like it was 1999. In that I acted as though I could handle a long night of fun the way I could when I was a young, spry, professional party goer. Ah, the 90's were good. Well, here is what I've learned about that - 1999 was a long time ago. And news flash, I'm old. I don't bounce back the way I used to shall we say. But it was well worth it. The hubs insisted we couldn't let the house's big moment go by without a celebration, and I'm always up for a party, so celebrate we did. Friends, clients, family, neighbors - everyone was there and a good time was had.

So Elizabeth, tell us all about the party. That's what a good blogger would do. Well, I would if I was a good blogger but even with the best intentions these are the only pictures I got.

Oh and this gem. Sad. Just sad. And it has led me to discover my one and only New Year's Resolution for 2015 - I need to get better about taking pictures. Not just for the blog, but for life in general. There is a life that I live and share with people I love and if I'm not careful I'll have no record of it when I'm old and forget where my teeth are.

I do want to thank everyone who came over to celebrate. We had a good bunch over and the house was full of noise, conversation, laughs and clicking glasses - just the way I like it.

So there are my two lessons for the week - I now need at least two days to recover from a big party (pathetic) and I need to take more pictures.

Are you good at capturing the fun moments?  Do you take a ton of pictures at even the smallest events? Do you want to come over for my next party? I'm thinking something in the spring. I'm already looking forward to spring.

  3. So glad you had a fun celebration - it sounds like it was worth the aftermath :)

  4. I am terrible about taking pictures of life's fun too, especially with me in the picture. Now my teeth are a different matter. If you keep your teeth next to the sink, like me, you will never lose them. Haha!

  5. Girl, we are cut from the same cloth! I too, lose two days of my life if I party like it's 1999. Sadly, I tend to forget this little fact while in the throes of a good party. I'll never learn.

As for pictures - ditto. My fish fry this summer? Got practically none (as I was in the throes of a party - notice a trend?). My photographer friend didn't do much better, since the rain moved in. Argh! But, I still have the memories, right? The memories I can remember, that is... ;-)

    Congrats again!

  6. Oh yeay!!! I'm so glad you got to celebrate! I sure wish I lived closer !! I always think it is better to have been in the moment rather than recording it....even if you can't remember the exact memory when you are old it will have become a part of you! Cin, Cin!

  8. Good for you...you should celebrate! I usually have a rock star night once a year...that's all it takes for me to remember why I can't do it more!

  10. It's certainly a sign of a good party when you didn't even think about taking pictures ;) And I rarely party like it's 1999 anymore. If I do I'm out of it for days and occasionally really embarrass myself too. Glad you had an awesome time and have fun recovering.

  11. I always crack up when I read your posts! I just quoted 80's music as well yesterday (great minds) ;) I'm sure you throw a killer party and next time when I'm invited it will probably take me a full week to recover! :) I'm a picture taker...but my problem is I then do nothing with then but let them sit on my computer...thousands. :)

  12. I'm calling in proxy reinforcements, both for the partying and the picture taking. We need 20 somethings to do our drinking for us and professionals to capture the shenanigans - b/c who wants to put a drank down to snap a picture?! Not me, that's who.

  13. you would think that with how much we drink daily now (because parenting) our tolerance would be built up. But alas no. #old # ithurts

  14. I think you have the right idea there with all that vino. Can't be a bad party with a stash like that.

  15. I'm the worst at taking photos. I'm so busy scrambling around that I don't have time. If I win the lottery (guess I should play if I wanna win, but anywho) I want a photographer to be at all of life's important moments and snap away for me.
