stitches and satchels

Sorry for the radio silence everybody. Yesterday, as I tried to make a lovely snow day breakfast, I had a run in with a pesky knife and ended up with stitches in my hand.

The buggers are right where my thumb muscle moves to make my hand...useful. And let me tell you in case you have forgotten this from Jr. High science, our opposable thumbs are one of the greatest gifts evolution gave us. Life without it is slow and frustrating. So typing is not my friend these days. Bare with me and know I'll be back in fighting shape soon.

But I can't drop a lame bomb like that and leave you empty handed (pun intended). So head over to Resembl where I'm sharing my favorite black and white handbags for the new year. Empty handed, hand bags, I just can't help myself.

I really love a good handbag and I've got some great choices to drool over. Check it out here.

Do you have an obsession with bags like I do? Ever had stitches? Ever heard a doctor say "We've got a bleeder!"? Sadly, I have. (Extra points if you can name the movie that line is also from.)

  2. Oh no! I broke my hand 2 summers ago and remember what a pain it was!! Never realize how much you use that thing til it's not working. Elbows are your best friend. Sports bras too, no need to latch it. Hope you heal quickly. Milk it from your family as long as you can too;).

  6. Oh know you poor thing! I've only had stitches from surgery not from an injury but I have had two broken bones. I have a huge handbag obsession- I am constantly dreaming of what my next bag will be!

  9. Poor girl! I've had some close calls with sharp objects and have dodged the bullet so far (knock wood). At least you have a pretty mani - my nails are horrible at the moment!

  11. Ouch! My brother almost sliced his whole thumb off in the same spot. Looks like you'll be all thumbs (or no thumbs I suppose) for awhile. Heal up quick! Your nails look lovely.

  12. glad to see your spirits are still high, high enough to make jokes at least. I had a run in with a knife in that exact spot a week after I had my little girl, she was our 1st and I was sure that, at 1 week of age, she needed to play with toys... So my trusty knife and I went to battle with some plastic packaging - it won. I ended up with stitches... I found that a glass of wine and a bath helped a lot, you'll just have to ignore the plastic bag taped around your hand! Take care.

  16. I am so sorry!! Yes, I have had stitches a few times. I remember the 'opposable thumbs' argument from Friends. I learn most things from television. I hope you have your feet up and a cocktail in the other hand.

  20. Ouch! I'm so sorry - saw that on Instagram and felt awful for you. Other than oral surgery stitches, and ahem, c-section stitches I've never had them (knock on wood). They always freaked me out when I was little too (my dad's a pediatrician and he'd always talk about stitches and I would about faint - being a doctor obviously wasn't in the cards for me ;) I hope you're on the mend soon and that it's not too painful/uncomfortable for you. Just medicate with plenty of G&Ts! Off to check out your handbag post!

  22. You poor thing - OUCH! It must still be so painful. I hope it heals as quickly as possible.
That is NO fun. We forget how vital our hands are until we don't have full use of them for everything.

I used to have a coordinating purse for every outfit at work.
Now i just love my patterned cotton ones, and use them until they wear out!
